India rise 3 places to occupy 102nd spot in FIFA rankings

India jumped three rungs to be placed 102nd in the first FIFA rankings of the year released today. India, who are just above 103rd placed Qatar, are ranked 14th among Asian countries. India garnered 13 points in the last one month for a total of 333-points. The Indians remained unbeaten in 2017, having won seven of their nine matches while two ended in draws.
India aviation sector's growth may drop to 12% in 2018, says Boeing

The Indian aviation sector could see a drop of 12 percent in its growth rate due to the rising jet fuel prices, a senior official of aerospace major Boeing said on Thursday. Domestic air traffic has shown a consistent growth of 20 -25 percent throughout 2015 and 2016. However, the domestic travel demand petered out and stayed under 20 percent in 2017.
Honor plans to roll out 'Face Unlock' feature for 'View 10'

Chinese technology giant Huawei's brand Honor on Thursday announced the roll-out of a software update that will bring 'Face Unlock' feature to its "View 10" smartphones. The Over-The-Air will reach all "View 10" devices by January 24, the company said in a statement. To enable the feature, you need to register your face by accessing face-recognition feature in phone settings menu.
Kulbhushan Jadhav was abducted from Iran, says Baloch activist

Alleged Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav, who is languishing in a Pakistani jail, was kidnapped from Chabahar in Iran by mercenaries at the behest of the ISI and was taken to Pakistan, Baloch activist Mama Qadeer has said. Qadeer claimed that Jadhav was abducted by Mullah Omar Baloch Irani, who is known to work for Pakistani spy agency ISI, from Iran's port city Chabahar.
Tri-Nation Series Schedule Involving India, SL, Bangladesh Revised

A court has directed issuance of arrest warrant against defaulter businessman Vijay Mallya and 18 others in the Kingfisher Airlines case, on a complaint filed by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO). The probe agency, which comes under the corporate affairs ministry, has come across various violations of companies law in the case related to Kingfisher Airlines, which was grounded in 2012.

The Allahabad High Court has imposed a Rs 5,000 fine on the Prime Minister's Office and the Law Ministry after they sought an extension to file the response to a PIL. The petitioner had claimed that the Centre considers only 10 out of the approximately 5,000 reports submitted by the CAG every year. The court will hear the case after three weeks.
Paytm Payments Bank Launches Physical Debit Card Delivery Via App

Paytm Payments Bank Savings Account holders can now order physical debit cards from the Paytm app, Paytm Founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma announced on Thursday. Earlier the bank provided only a Digital Rupay card which was linked to a user's Paytm Payments Bank savings account. The users will be charged a one-time fee of Rs 120 to get the card.
Cockfights in AP: Police arrest nearly 2K organisers in 4 districts

Nearly 2,000 people have been arrested in four districts across Andhra Pradesh for organising cockfights during Sankranti despite a court-ordered ban. As per reports, the unofficial estimate for betting during the three-day festivities was Rs 600-900 crore. Vijayawada alone saw a 250% increase in the number of cockfight events held this year, police said.
Petrol prices breach Rs 71-mark in Delhi, highest in 3 years
